Click each lesson below for a glimpse of what you'll learn!
In the first lesson we go over some of the terminology used throughout the class and discuss the importance of a healthy mind and positive outlook – no matter how you plan to give birth!
In this lesson, you’ll hear the story of my first natural birth, and a bit about my credentials and experience working in labor and delivery.
In lesson three, we discuss the importance of talking to your provider about your birth wishes before you go into labor, and you’ll learn how to research your hospital’s birth stats (and why they matter!). We also cover birth plans and advocacy in the delivery room.
Lesson four has a lot of information packed in it! This part of the class includes an overview of when to call your provider during pregnancy, how to prep your body and encourage spontaneous labor, and teaches about different types of contractions. You’ll also learn about the anatomy of labor (what goes on in there when contractions start?!), why baby’s position can be so important, and what happens when your water breaks.
This lesson will help you learn when to head to the hospital and what will happen right when you arrive. You’ll learn about cervical checks, monitoring, and even a bit about inductions just in case that happens to you! This section also includes info about fetal distress and what might happen if baby is unstable during labor. Finally, I’ll go over restrictions related to eating and drinking, IV use, and movement during labor and delivery.
Lesson six is where you’ll learn all about pain control for labor and delivery! I highlight the many benefits of laboring naturally, the reality of labor pain, the role of breathing and relaxation during contractions, positions for labor, pharmaceutical options for pain, an overview of epidurals, and a special section dedicated to preparing partners.
In this lesson, you’ll learn just how important mindset is for going natural! You’ll learn mental strategies and mindset tips to help you cope with the pain of labor mentally, and I’ll help you erase any anxieties to get you totally pumped and excited to rock your natural birth.
Here in lesson eight, you’ll learn about different pushing positions, different ways to push, and tons of specific tips for when you’re pushing!
This birth class doesn’t stop at birth! In lesson nine you’ll learn what to expect in the hours and days after birth, and beyond. Here, I go over tearing, common (and strange!) postpartum symptoms, and even a bit about postpartum mental health.
Lesson 10 is full of information on special circumstances. In this lesson you will learn what to expect if you need a C-section, special info for my VBAC mamas, and individual sections related to breech babies, twins, and the use of magnesium. Lastly, you’ll find an overview of preterm birth.
In the final lesson, we wrap up with a special motivational message, and guess what mama? You’re ready to BIRTH IT UP!

The Benefits of Laboring Naturally
Meet Your Teacher, Liesel Teen
Hi! I’m Liesel, a labor and delivery nurse, mom of two, and the founder and face behind Mommy Labor Nurse. You may know me better as @mommy.labornurse over on Instagram.
With my first birth, I had an empowering, beautiful natural birth, and I want that for every mama that’s interested in trying to go without an epidural. The second time around things were a lot harder, but I harnessed the mindset and strategies I teach in this course and rocked an even more challenging natural labor.
In my 6+ years working in labor and delivery, I’ve cared for hundreds of laboring women. And I’ve had the honor to help thousands more with this class!
Mama. I want to help you achieve the birth of your dreams.I will hold your hand through this entire series. This isn't the kind of course where I leave you with a book to read. I talk you through the whole course and explain EXACTLY what you need to know about successfully delivering naturally.
