1. Pregnancy test
Some people might find this a little bit…umm…unsanitary but I, quite frankly, find it to be pretty hilarious! I know a handful of people that have shared their news with a positive pregnancy test.
You can wrap the test up and stick it in a little gift bag or simply hand the test (hopefully after a good cleaning) to the person you are sharing your news with! A great way to tell your partner, with a physical test, or you can send a picture of the positive test to someone.
2. Ultrasound picture
A classic but always a good option. There’s just something SO exciting about seeing your precious little one, even if your precious little one is just a blob (of love, of course). This can be done in a few different ways.
Similarly to the pregnancy test, you can wrap the ultrasound picture up and present it as a gift. Another way is to send a picture of the ultrasound via text or email. Lastly, you could take a picture of your partner and yourself holding the ultrasound photo and send that out.
The options are endless with this classic pregnancy announcement!
3. A holiday DIY pregnancy announcement
I’m not sure if you have had a chance to read through any of my other pregnancy announcement idea articles but they pretty much are all holiday based. Holidays make for really great pregnancy announcement material. If you find yourself sharing your exciting news around a holiday be sure to use that in your favor!

4. Bake a cake
If you love to bake this might be the DIY pregnancy announcement option for you! It could be as simple as baking your partner’s favorite kind of cake and writing “baby on the way” on the cake. If you want to get really creative you could find a plastic baby and actually bake it into the cake, leaving your partner to find it.
If you do the second option, just make sure the figure is big enough that it doesn’t become a choking hazard.
5. Write a poem or song
Tap into that inner creativity with this one. It doesn’t have to be a sappy, tear jerker song or poem (but it can be) and you don’t have to pour hours or days into putting it together either. Something short and sweet can get the exact same point across – make it fun and not stressful!
6. Baby shoes DIY pregnancy announcement
People love to use baby shoes for pregnancy announcements and I can see why. Baby shoes might be some of the cutest thing I’ve ever laid eyes on. What’s more, you can actually put the shoes on your little one once they are born! Better make sure you choose a pair of shoes that you really love!
7. Big sibling
If you have a willing and able older sibling in the house you can use them to help announce your pregnancy. The easiest way to do this is to put a “big sister” or “big brother” shirt or dress on your older sibling and snap their picture.
You can also do this by taking a picture of big sibling holding the ultrasound picture and use that as your announcement.
8. Fur sibling
You can use your four-legged baby to help announce your pregnancy! Some really cute ones that I’ve seen in the past involve signs next to or in front of the animal (in this it was a dog) saying, “promoted to big brother” or “guard dog duties begin (due date)”.
I didn’t have Annie (my sweet golden retriever) when I was pregnant with my boys but if she had been a part of our family then you better believe I would have incorporated her into my own pregnancy announcement.
9. Letterboard DIY pregnancy announcement
I love utilizing a letterboard because it can be used to announce your pregnancy and then used again in the future for so many other things!
A lot of people use them to announce baby’s birth with all the fun details. You can continue using it to document big milestones after baby’s arrival. Using a letterboard is fun, easy, and low stress, a no brainer if you ask me!
10. Scavenger hunt
Another one where you might have to tap into that inner creativity! You can send your partner around the house (or wherever) with clues that will ultimately end in some form of pregnancy announcement – whether it be the actual pregnancy test, baby booties, or something else!
11. Put it in a letter
You can write a letter to your partner from the perspective of your baby. Make sure to tell them how excited you (baby) are to meet them and name all the things you can’t wait to do together. This is something that your partner and your baby both can cherish for years and years to come!
12. A onesie DIY pregnancy pregnancy announcement
I love a good onesie pregnancy announcement! Another classic but solid way to go about sharing your pregnancy news with family and friends. It can be something as simple as wrapping and gifting a plain baby onesie. If you are feeling inspired (and have the time), you can get your due date or your baby’s name or initials (if you know it), or do something else to personalize it a bit more.
