Baby Shower themes
The good news about baby showers and budgets? You can really make any baby shower theme as budget-friendly or as expensive as you want. I’ll cover some budget-friendly tips a little later in this article but first, let’s talk about some of my favorite baby shower themes!
Animal-themed baby shower
You can do a whole lot with an animal shower theme. Elephants, lions, dogs, and tigers are some of the more commonly used animals but don’t let your imagination stop there! The options truly are endless with animals.
Some cute animal-themed ideas include a jungle or safari-theme, Peter Rabbit, rubber ducky, or zoo-theme! An animal-theme not only gives you lots of material to work with but also is a super sweet and classic idea!
Holiday-themed baby shower
If you’ve had a chance to read through any of my pregnancy announcement idea articles then you know just how much I love a holiday. I do my best to incorporate a holiday-theme into just about anything I can!
If your baby shower happens to fall on or near a holiday I say take full advantage of it, mama! Use that holiday for inspiration and shower theme ideas (not to mention all the stuff you can easily find in store to use for decorations.)
Season-themed baby shower
Similarly to the holiday-themed idea, you can also base your baby shower theme off an entire season. I’m personally a summer gal myself (and have one August baby) so a summer-themed shower sounds pretty sweet to me…and a great excuse to eat popsicles and ice cream!
I know summer isn’t everyone’s favorite season so don’t sweat it if this is you! You can make this a really fun and cute theme with any of the other seasons too!
Twinkle, twinkle, little star-themed baby shower
It’s one of the sweetest lullabies in the history of all lullabies and makes for a great baby shower theme. I can picture it now, the sweet and simple invitations, all the cute decorations, the napkins and plates – cuteness overload!
What’s more, you can repurpose some of the decor from the shower in baby’s nursery, #winning! I’m all about saving a buck when you can.

Budget-friendly baby shower tips
Now that we’ve hit some of my favorites baby shower themes, let’s dive into how to make it not break the bank! Like I said earlier, you truly can take any baby shower theme and make it as expensive or as affordable as you want.
With these tips though, you might not have to compromise (for lack of better words) as much as you think!
Digital invitations
Let’s just be honest, we live in a digital world! Digital invitations are so in and for very valid reasons! With digital invitations you can sacrifice some of the cost and hands on time without sacrificing cuteness and style.
There are tons of websites out there where you can produce and send adorable, electronic invitations for a fraction of the cost of paper invitations. Another perk? It’s a more environmentally friendly option too!
DIY decorations
Every group has that really creative and talented friend or family member, ammirite? When it comes to decorations, the more you can do on your own, the less you have to spend money on.
Make it fun by hosting a craft night. Order pizza, pick up some wine or sparkling waters, and spend a couple hours putting decorations together. “Work” is always more fun when you are doing it with friends!
Make it a potluck
The cost of food, whether catered or not, can add up fast! One great tip for keeping costs down is to have all of the hosts bring a dish. If there aren’t many hosting the shower you can always involve some (or all) of the guests too! For the most part, people love having a job and being able to help, so it’s sort of a win-win.
Borrow when you can
Chances are good that you know someone – friend, coworker, or family member, that has some baby shower decor kicking around their house. It’s fun to invest in cute baby shower stuff but it’s more challenging to repurpose than other holiday / celebratory decor.
Basically, if you can borrow decorations or tableware from a friend or family member (or even find them second-hand) just do it!
Wrapping up
No matter your budget or style, the perfect baby shower theme is out there for you, mama-to-be! Get those creative juices flowing, have some fun, and relax. It’s easy to get caught up in all the nitty gritty details but don’t forget this is a time to celebrate and not stress!
