Sarah’s Birth Stories:

Pregnancy 1: About 3 days before my due date I felt some leaking and went to the hospital, they said all was fine and it was probably discharge and sent me home. This happened 2 more times over the next 2 days. I was positive I was leaking amniotic fluid but…then at about 7 PM on my due date after I ate a very large Burrito I felt a big gush and new this was my full water breaking. I called the hospital and they told me I could labor at home, or come in. Considering I had no intention of having an unmedicated birth we packed up our stuff and went to the hospital. They gave me misoprostyl to ripen my cervix and that sent me into full blown labor. I labored until midnight and then got the epidural. At 9 am they checked me and I was ready to push. 6 Pushes and 14 minutes later my healthy son was on my chest with a VERY coneshaped head.

Pregnancy 2: 4 Days before my due date I was having very minor and irregular contractions, this continued for 2 days but never intensified or regulated. At 7:30 pm I was carrying my son into his room after his bath and all of a sudden I felt this huge pop and then a huge gush came. I put my son down and turned to my husband and said “welp, my water just broke”. We put my son down, went downstairs and told our inlaws who were staying with us in anticipation that it was go time. We drove to the hospital and during the drive my contractions starting kicking up big time. By the time they checked me in I was having contractions every 4-5 minutes but I wasnt that dilated. They finally admitted me and I got into my room around 10:30, I labored for a couple of hours without an epidural and at midnight decided it was time. They came in gave me an epidural and about 10 minutes later I was SURE I had to poop, the nurse came in and decided that she should have my checked and it turns out I was ready and the baby was making its way down. They got the room ready and in 4 pushes my daughter (gender was not known prior) came out. The recovery was SO much better and faster the second time around.
