This is part 1 of Addie’s 2 party birth story. Addie had an emergency C-section with her first daughter, Sophie, who unfortunately did not survive. Addie goes into detail about the events leading up to that day, and what I can only describe as negligence by her care team during the birth of her first daughter. She then found herself pregnant again 3 months later with her rainbow baby, and this time chose an elective C-section for her birth. 9 months after the birth of her rainbow, she becomes pregnant with, in her words, her “pot of gold” baby – his birth was an empowering VBAC after her previous two C-Sections.

This week I have a story of birth after infant death to share with you, and I gotta say, this story is absolutely incredible. This week I had Addie join me on the podcast, and she is just a fabulous storyteller.

Addie had an emergency C-section with her first daughter, Sophie, who unfortunately did not survive. We split Addie’s story over the course of two episodes, and here in part 1 Addie goes into detail about the events leading up to that day, and what I can only describe as negligence by her care team during the birth of her first daughter.

This story does discuss stillbirth, birth trauma, and grief, which can be difficult for some to hear. If these topics are at all triggering for you, I invite you to skip this episode.

Next week in part 2, you’ll hear her share the birth stories of her rainbow and pot of gold babies – so be sure to tune in next week, too!

About Addie Wyman

Addie is a 25-year-old mother of three currently living in Florida with her two living children, Belle and Alex. Her angel baby’s name is Sophie, and she would be almost 3 this year.

Currently, she is pursuing her degree in nursing – where she hopes to specialize in labor and delivery! Her hobbies include golf, makeup, and thrift shopping. She also has a Twitch channel where she plays a variety of games.

Addie’s hope in sharing her story is that those who are facing a loss, of any kind, will find comfort and solace in knowing that they are not alone – there are others who have been in the same place. And, of course, giving her daughter Sophie – and all the other babies taken far too soon – the voice they deserve.
